Fanatics Markets pulls sports predictions from Utah after Kalshi Charges

Fanatics will cease prediction market trading on its Fanatics Markets app in Utah effective November 4, 2026.

This decision aligns with previous actions taken by competitors such as DraftKings and FanDuel, which have also halted sports event contracts and prediction markets in the state.

Recently, Utah Attorney General Derek Brown filed 14 criminal charges against Kalshi and its co-founders, Tarek Mansour and Luana Lopes Lara, claiming they illegally promoted online gambling.

As part of the investigation, an undercover state agent opened a Kalshi account and placed 12 sports wagers in September. Additionally, a bipartisan coalition of 37 states and Washington, D.C., has submitted an amicus brief to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, urging the court to uphold an August ruling that permits Utah to enforce its gambling laws against Kalshi.
