ATG revenue grows to SEK2.64bn
ATG’s quarterly report shows that net gaming revenues were SEK 2.6 billion for the half year, which is a growth of four percent compared with 2020.
I am happy to say that ATG can still show growth in the first half of 2021 compared to last year, says Lotta Nilsson Viitala, CFO at ATG. Towards the first half of 2019, the increase is 26 percent, strong growth over two years.
For ATG, the year 2020 was completely exceptional from an economic perspective. Between March and June, the range of sports games was small and Swedish trotting and galloping were in principle the only sports that were running. Therefore, it is expected that ATG will not meet last year’s figures for revenue and earnings in 2021.
The largest and most important gaming area, horse games, decreased by two percent in net gaming revenue during the first half of the year. Compared to 2019, the horse game has grown by 17 percent.
Sports betting has grown by 116 percent during the first half of the year, which is also strongly affected by the pandemic as the range of games in 2021 is normal, unlike last year.
During the half year, the casino has decreased by 18 percent, which is a direct effect of the temporary regulation that was introduced on 2 July 2020. The regulation entails a deposit limit per week for casino games and is valid until 14 November this autumn.
It is important to note that both sports betting and casino are profitable product areas that contribute positively to ATG’s operating profit. But Hästspelet is – and will remain – the largest in terms of both revenue and profitability and what ATG invests the most in to continue building and developing the company, says Lotta Nilsson Viitala.
ATG’s total revenues amounted to just over three billion in the first half of 2021, a decrease of just under one percent. In relation to the more normal 2019, total revenues have increased by 22 percent.
Gambling responsibility is high on the agenda. The number of active and registered customers is currently around 1.3 million and for ATG it is important that all customers feel good about their gaming.
