PFA of Northern Ireland announces partnership with Gamban
The Professional Footballers’ Association of Northern Ireland (PFA NI) has unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with Gamban, a leading provider of gambling-blocking software, to aid its members in combating the detrimental effects of problem gambling.
Through this partnership, PFA NI members will be granted free access to Gamban’s cutting-edge technology, which effectively blocks access to online gambling platforms and applications across various devices.
By offering this vital service, PFA NI seeks to safeguard players from the perils of gambling addiction, empowering them with the necessary tools to maintain control over their well-being.
Carvill believes this link-up with Gamban is a “significant step” to help those who need it.
“As the representative body for professional footballers in Northern Ireland, we are committed to supporting our members both on and off the pitch,” said Carvill.
“Gambling addiction is a growing concern within football and this partnership with Gamban is a significant step in providing practical help to those who need it.”
Melissa Etherington, Partnerships Executive at Gamban, commented: “Gambling addiction is a growing issue in football, which impacts mental health, finances and a player’s performance on the pitch.
“It also has the potential to impact sports integrity. We are delighted to partner with PFA NI to raise awareness of Gamban among those most at risk from harms related to online gambling.”
This initiative is part of PFA NI’s wider commitment to player welfare, providing educational resources, confidential support, and mental health assistance to members who may be grappling with gambling issues.
