NCAA requests that Kalshi remove ‘March Madness’ mentions
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is intensifying its scrutiny of Kalshi, the prediction market operator, particularly in its connection to March Madness, the NCAA’s flagship basketball tournaments for both men and women.
The NCAA argues that Kalshi has leveraged its name, trademarks, and event branding in a way that implies an official partnership. As the proprietors of March Madness, the NCAA asserts that any suggestion of endorsement or validation is legally inappropriate.
In an official statement to ReadWrite, the NCAA emphasized its stance: “The NCAA has previously raised issues about Kalshi’s unauthorized use of NCAA marks in their offerings. This continues to misrepresent any involvement from the NCAA, and we have requested the immediate removal of our trademarks.”
