Rank Group full year profit tops expectations
Shares in Rank Group rose about 5% after the company said full-year underlying operating profit would come in ahead of expectations, at least £76 million, helped by strong digital growth and improving performance at its Grosvenor casinos.
Group like-for-like net gaming revenue grew 6% to about £834.1 million for the year. The company said it remains on track to deliver at least £100 million in operating profit over the medium term.
Grosvenor venues saw like-for-like revenue grow 3% in the fourth quarter, despite disruption to international travel linked to the Middle East conflict.
The digital business grew 12% in the fourth quarter, with U.K. like-for-like revenue up 12%, a sharp improvement from 2% growth in the third quarter.
Separately, Rank said a £5.0 million provision tied to a proposed regulatory settlement with the Gambling Commission, which relates to historical compliance failings at Grosvenor Casinos covering the period from November 2024 to May 2025. The Commission has indicated it intends to accept the settlement proposal, and Rank is awaiting the final confirmation letter.
CEO Richard Harris said the profit outturn reflected progress on the company’s growth plan despite cost and tax headwinds, adding that the U.K. digital business has performed well since the tax increase in April and that gaming machine revenue growth remains a significant opportunity.
