Dutch regulator takes aim at TonyBet World Cup advert
The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) addresses TonyBet on violation of role model ban during World Cup.
During the tightened supervision surrounding the World Cup, the Gaming Authority (Ksa) has addressed online gambling provider TonyBet for a violation of the role model ban.
The advertising rules for online gambling are intended to protect young people, risk and problem players. The ban does not only apply when a professional athlete actually appears in an advertisement. Recognizable references to famous athletes are also not allowed.
After the intervention of the Ksa, TonyBet removed the advertisement and took measures to prevent a recurrence.
During the World Cup, the Ksa intensively monitors compliance with the advertising rules for online gambling. Where necessary, the supervisor acts to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
