Kalshi files for perpetual futures on the S&P 500
Kalshi has officially submitted a filing to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission to introduce equity index perpetuals.
This innovative type of futures contract would enable traders to take leveraged long or short positions on major stock market benchmarks like the S&P 500, all without needing to own the actual shares.
This initiative aligns with Kalshi’s comprehensive strategy to broaden its reach in the financial markets, stepping beyond its established event contracts to explore multiple asset classes through perpetual futures.
By introducing equity index perpetual futures, Kalshi aims to strengthen its position in the marketplace, directly competing with traditional derivatives exchanges.
This new offering will track significant U.S. stock indexes while eliminating the constraints of a fixed expiration date. Perpetual futures, or “perps,” provide traders the flexibility to maintain their positions indefinitely without the need to roll over contracts. The equity index perpetuals will leverage this structure, giving investors the opportunity to increase their exposure to market fluctuations inherently.
