HBO demands Jake Paul’s Betr pull ad reviving the entourage dynamic

HBO issued a take down nocite to Jake Paul’s Betr over a new Entourage-inspired commercial, citing alleged infringement and lack of authorisation.

The HBO cease-and-desist alleges the Entourage ad from Jake Paul’s Betr mirrors the show’s look and feel, with Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier in roles echoing their characters.

Shared on X on September 8, the three-minute spot was addressed in a letter to Betr CEO Joey Levy demanding removal across platforms and disclosure of ad spend, views and profits. Series creator Doug Ellin criticized the ad on Instagram. Betr told The Wrap on September 9 it appreciated the attention. Piven and Grenier have not publicly responded.

Outkast has filed a lawsuit accusing the California rapper and producer Ovrkast of unlawfully using a “nearly identical” name after acknowledging it caused consumer confusion and after allegedly agreeing to adopt a new moniker.

The 31-page complaint, filed in federal court in Georgia and obtained by Rolling Stone, accuses Ovrkast of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and breach of contract. The lawsuit filed by the Atlanta duo’s trademark holding company, High Schoolers, says Outkast has been among hip-hop’s most recognizable and influential acts since it formed in 1993, winning six Grammy Awards and garnering well more than 25 million records.
