Washington posts sport bets of $53.8 million in August

Washington sports betting market posted $53.8 million in wagers for August 2026, generating $6,932,891 in revenue at a 10.26% hold. The district collected $1,350,493 in tax revenue.

While the headline numbers show moderate growth, the more important story is how the market is consolidating both in terms of operators and betting activity.

FanDuel controlled roughly 42–43% of total market handle, reinforcing its position as the primary sportsbook in Washington. DraftKings remains a strong second, but the difference in total wagers suggests FanDuel is capturing both higher engagement and broader user activity.
