Polymarket has hired Lisa Mantil, a Goldman Sachs veteran of nearly three decades, to serve as its head of institutional growth.

Before joining Polymarket, Mantil held the position of Goldman Sachs partner and served as global head of the ETF accelerator, a proprietary program through which the bank assisted clients in bringing new investment products to market.

Polymarket CEO and Founder Shayne Coplan said in a release that her experience and relationships across the institutional world made her the right person to lead the expansion.

“The opportunity to join Polymarket is a rare chance to help shape an exploding asset class at an inflection point in its development,” Mantil said in a statement.

“I’ve spent my career guiding institutions as they adopt new products and enter new markets, and I look forward to bringing that expertise to Polymarket as we build the institutional business and expand the role prediction markets can play across investment and risk-management strategies.”

Institutional adoption of prediction markets has yet to reach maturity. Many prospective participants have held back while platforms and state regulators clash over authority to govern sports-related event contracts. Even so, platforms have continued to pursue large traders.
