MLB’s Ronald Acuna Jr teams up with Kalshi
Kalshi has recruited Ronald Acuña Jr to become the first Major League Baseball player to partner with a prediction market. A new commercial, created with agency Es Muy Good, features the Atlanta Braves star chilling in an unusual home—right under home plate.
The deal arrives less than two months after Kalshi announced partnerships with five MLB teams. The Braves, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants all signed on.
The New York Mets and New York Yankees were the first MLB clubs to strike deals with trading platforms, partnering with Novig and Polymarket, respectively. Kalshi is also reportedly in talks with MLB on a leaguewide agreement.
Acuna joins a growing list of athletes aligned with Kalshi. Golfer Bryson DeChambeau was the first earlier this year, followed by NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo and soccer star Lionel Messi.
His deal is likely to draw added scrutiny given MLB’s history with gambling. The league has long worked to separate its players from wagering controversies and game fixing.
MLB players are barred from trading on baseball event contracts. The commissioner’s office and the MLB Players Association sent a joint memo late in the 2025 season warning players against risking money on any baseball outcome.
The league’s recent betting scandal adds context. Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz were indicted and arrested in November 2025 over an alleged scheme to rig wagers on pitches.
