Louisiana sports wagers top $405 million in September

Louisiana sportsbooks took $405.1 million in wagers in September 2026, up 1% from a year earlier, and turned them into $44,796,079 in gross gaming revenue at a 14.09% hold.

With $3.04 billion in handle and $344 million in GGR through September, Louisiana remains firmly within the top-10 national sports-betting markets by both volume and revenue.

The state collected $9,477,597 in tax, up 41% on the year. The most revealing number, though, sits in the breakdown by sport: parlays alone accounted for $33.6 million in net proceeds, roughly 77% of the total and more than triple what every individual sport produced put together. Figures come from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.

Analysts expect sports wagering to surpass $4 billion in annual handle by the end of 2025 if current momentum holds.
