Foxtel’s Len Blavatnik backs DAZN for another year

British-American billionaire Len Blavatnik has committed to supporting DAZN’s funding for at least another year, following a staggering loss of $979.7 million by the sports streaming service he manages in 2025. This year alone, he has infused the company with hundreds of millions in additional support.

Access Industries, Blavatnik’s investment firm based in New York, has issued a letter indicating its intention to provide financial backing for 12 months starting from September 25.

While the directors clarified that this support letter is “not legally enforceable or a binding commitment,” they noted that any financial backing associated with specific sports broadcasting rights acquired in or after 2025 is indeed legally binding. After assessing the situation, both the directors and auditor BDO concluded that there is no material uncertainty regarding DAZN’s operational viability, largely due to the backing from its owner.

Despite the revenue increase of 22% to $3.8 billion last year, the company’s operating costs hit $4.74 billion, widening the operating loss from $772.9 million in 2024 to $939.8 million. As a result, net liabilities nearly doubled, reaching $2.41 billion, primarily due to amounts owed to various entities within the DAZN group.

The figures from 2024 provided for comparison were unaudited. Access Industries lent $610 million to DAZN in 2025, following an investment of $587 million in preference shares in 2024.

This year, they have extended an additional $360 million in loans, broken down into tranches of $60 million in January, $50 million in March, $200 million in April, and $50 million in May.

In total, the directors reported that Access has invested over $7 billion into the group, CEO Shay Segev has expressed confidence that DAZN will achieve profitability by 2026 and hinted at the potential for a stock market listing in the coming years.
