Oregon sports bets hits $81 million in September

In September 2026, Oregon saw a total of $81,012,000 in wagers, reflecting a decrease of 5.26% compared to September 2025. However, revenue surged to $7,462,000, marking an impressive increase of 83.01%.

Despite stable demand, the notable difference came from the hold percentage, which shifted from a bettor-friendly 4.77% to a more typical 9.21%. This change accounted for the entire increase in revenue. September ranked as the third-largest month for handle in 2026, trailing only January, which recorded $90.63 million, and June at $86.00 million.

It was also the fifth-highest month for revenue. The hold percentage of 9.21% aligns closely with the nine-month blended average of 9.23%, indicating that September 2025 was indeed the outlier.

Currently, DraftKings is the sole online sportsbook operating in Oregon, having taken over from the Scoreboard app in January 2022 on behalf of the Lottery. In-person betting is offered at four tribal sportsbooks: Chinook Winds, BetMGM at Spirit Mountain, Caesars kiosks at Ko-Kwel Casino Resort, and The Sportsbook at Three Rivers.

It’s important to note that tribal casinos in Oregon are not regulated by the state, and their betting activity isn’t included in the Lottery’s reported figures. This presents a significant gap in the data, particularly as online college betting remains prohibited under Lottery regulations, leaving college wagers available exclusively at tribal locations. As a result, all legal college bets placed in Oregon are not reflected in the state’s official figures.
