Missouri sports betting revenue hits a record $21.3 million in May
Missouri sportsbooks reported a total handling of $256,364,814 in May, marking the lowest monthly figure since the launch of the market.
Interestingly, despite this decline in wagers, operators celebrated their most profitable month to date, generating $21,250,814 in revenue with an 8.29% hold.
The state also benefited from these developments, collecting $2,131,872 in tax revenue. Just six months after its debut on December 1, 2025, Missouri has seen an unusual flip in the traditional dynamics of sports betting.
While the total handle has been gradually decreasing, the revenue figures continue to rise as the initial promotional offers subside. Notably, online betting comprised an impressive $252,593,427, accounting for 98.53% of all wagers.
These statistics have been reported by the Missouri Gaming Commission. The month of May represents a significant milestone in Missouri’s sports betting journey.
The revenue hit a record high even as the handle fell to a new low, indicating that the market has transitioned away from the heavily promotional launch phase to a more stable economic environment.
Over these first six months, Missouri has accepted approximately $2.06 billion in total wagers, generated around $100.1 million in operator revenue, and contributed $8.2 million in tax revenue. Surpassing $100 million in cumulative revenue within just half a year highlights how rapidly Missouri has positioned itself as a notable player in the mid-sized market segment.
