Norsk Tipping hit with NOK25m warning after Lotto errors
An error in the “super draw” on April 19, 2025 resulted in 52 incorrect winners of a million-dollar prizes being drawn by Norsk Tipping.
The Norwegian Lottery Authority is now taking the matter further warning that a fine of up to NOK 25 million may be issued as a result of the error.
Norsk Tipping has since refunded the stakes of the players who did not participate in the draw.
The Norwegian Lottery Authority maintains that the draw was not carried out correctly in accordance with the Gambling Act.
The Norwegian Lottery Authority has given Norsk Tipping three fines for violations of the Gambling Act and the Gambling Regulations in the past year: NOK 2.5 million for the incorrect payment of NOK 25 million.
NOK 36 million for violating the requirement that players should have the opportunity to exclude themselves from games and 46 million kroner for having drawn the wrong winners in the national additional prize in Eurojackpot and Supertrekning in Lotto over several years.
In addition, the Norwegian Lottery Authority has announced that they are considering giving Norsk Tipping a fine of up to 10 million kroner for the error that occurred in connection with the Eurojackpot draw on June 27, 2025. It was then informed of prize amounts that were significantly higher than the actual prize amounts.
Norsk Tipping needs to tightens its routines, control and quality of what they do.
