Rank Group said full-year operating profit rose 21% as stronger and tighter costs and growth in digital betting helped offset a sharp rise in UK gaming taxes.

The company also said trading in the first six weeks of FY 2027 remained solid, with revenue up 8%, Grosvenor gaming revenue was up 15% and digital revenue up 10%.

Like-for-like net gaming revenue rose 6% to GBP 834 million in FY 2026. Operating profit increased 21% to GBP 78.6 million, with margin improving to 9.4% from 8.1%.

The company said it has already installed 850 additional gaming machines and sees room for 650 more. Rank expects a GBP 35 million full-year hit from the UK’s 40% Remote Gaming Duty in FY 2027.

Rank Group delivered a stronger year across its casino, bingo and digital businesses, even as the UK gambling tax environment became less favorable. The company said growth came from all major segments, with Grosvenor casinos benefiting from a larger machine estate and Mecca bingo supported by venue modernization and tablet-based play.

The group’s performance also reflected disciplined cost control. Management said digital mitigations, including lower above-the-line marketing, staff reductions and supplier negotiations, helped offset much of the first-quarter impact from the new Remote Gaming Duty. Rank said the business remains well positioned in its core markets, where it has strong brands, a large customer base and a leading casino position in the UK.
