William Hill PLC on Friday said it appointed Gordon Wilson as independent non-executive director from January 2 next year.

In addition, the company said Non-Executive Director Mark Brooker will replace Senior Independent Non-Executive Director Roy Gardner, who will step down on November 20.

The FTSE 250-listed bookmaker said Wilson is a president & chief executive of Travelport Worldwide Ltd, a travel distribution platform. He has held the role since 2011 and led the company through its initial public offering in New York in 2014.

Wilson also chairs travel payments provider eNett, a joint venture company in which Travelport is the majority shareholder.

“Gordon brings extensive experience of the development and use of proprietary technology and data at scale on a global basis,” said Chairman Roger Devlin.

“This, alongside his knowledge of the US market in particular, bring great value to William Hill given our strategic priorities and focus on capturing the opportunity provided by sports betting regulation in the US,” added Devlin.
