DraftKings appoints several sports betting experts
DraftKings has announced a high-profile partnership with Charles Barkley. Barkley isn’t the only new face in the halls of the newest sports betting company.
The company announced the addition of the following personnel to its sportsbook team.
Jamie Shea is the new head of digital sportsbook operations. Shea is the former head of North American growth opportunities for International Game Technology. Shea has more than 10 years experience in sportsbook and racebook operations in Las Vegas.
Frank Kunovic is the new director of retail sportsbook operations. Kunovic brings with him sportsbook and racebook management experience from Ceasars.
Sean Hurley is the new head of commercial growth and will be in the New York offices. Hurley’s experience in this “critical area” is credited by the company as enabling the DraftKings Sportsbook to be first to market in New Jersey.
DraftKings’ co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer, Matt Kalish, talked about the company’s hiring focus and the need for top-tier talent: “The bar for hiring talent at DraftKings is set extremely high, and our success in being first to market in New Jersey with mobile sports betting is the direct result of our skilled team.
I am excited to welcome this new group of executives while expanding the company to San Francisco and Las Vegas. Presence in these international hubs of technology and gaming, respectively, allows us access to a tremendous talent pool and strengthens our position as leaders in this dynamic industry.”
Last week, DraftKings announced the hiring of Tom Goedde, Chief Marketing Officer, and Andy Yang, Chief Product Officer. The pair will join the Massachusetts offices to direct DraftKings growing gaming and media divisions.
To house its new workforce, DraftKings secured the largest commercial single-floor space available in Boston at 105,000 square feet. It doubles the size of its existing offices and will open in early 2019.
DraftKings currently offers DFS contests across 11 professional sports in eight countries including the US. Its online gaming license in New Jersey, which includes NJ sports betting, is only one part of a larger plan.
